Red Bull is already involved in various cycling areas, but now it seems to be intensifying its commitment to the sport. On December 29, the well-known energy drink brand expressed interest in acquiring a majority stake in RD Pro Cycling and RD Beteiligungs, the companies that control the BORA-hansgrohe cycling team.
This information has already been confirmed, with the outcome set for January 26.
Red Bull aims to acquire 51% of the shares of both companies, which were previously owned by Ralph Denk, the manager of BORA-Hansgrohe. This information has been confirmed by the Austrian authority overseeing company acquisitions. The transfer of shares is expected to be completed by January 26.
Strong investments are expected to reach the German team. Red Bull is set to increase its investment in BORA-hansgrohe in the near future, taking on a more active role in the WorldTour. The two companies have had a longstanding partnership. Since the beginning of 2023, BORA-hansgrohe has been collaborating with Red Bull in identifying new talents for its junior team through the recruitment program known as ‘Red Bull Junior Brothers’.
