Career advancement

“It’s a great opportunity to join this team and grow as an athlete,” continued the 21-year-old Italian. “It’s a step forward in my career, and I’m happy we’ve reached this agreement. I enjoy Grand Tours and stage races that last a week. So, while I continue to focus on time trials, I also want to improve as a climber.”

Milesi still had a contract until the end of 2025 with Team DSM-Firmenich, which will be called DSM-Firmenich PostNL from next year. However, the Dutch WorldTeam and Movistar reached an agreement for a provisional transition.

Red jersey in the last Vuelta a España

The Italian had his last significant performance in the Vuelta a España. In the opening team time trial, affected by rain, he was the first from his team to cross the finish line. The time they set early in the day ended up being the fastest.

Thus, Milesi wore the red jersey and became the first leader of the race, precisely in his debut in a Grand Tour. However, the young Italian fell at the beginning of the sixth stage and couldn’t continue the competition due to hand pain.
