Miguel Angel Lopez is enjoying a few days of vacation at Disney World with his family. The Colombian cyclist shared a video on his social media in which he mentions that the UCI subjected him to an anti-doping test.
Currently, he is suspended due to doping allegations related to Operation Ilex and his connection with Dr. Marcos Maynar.
López expressed regret that the UCI tested him but provided no information about his provisional suspension, which has been in place for 5 months:
“Surprised by something that happened to me this morning, I didn’t want to go public about it, but well, I think it’s time because it’s been a long time.”
“Everyone knows the situation I’m in, the provisional suspension that the UCI gave me, it’s been over five months, practically since July, and today I know absolutely nothing. This morning I just underwent an anti-doping control here near where I am, at the Disney hotel, and the truth is, I’m surprised they came here.”
Criticism of the UCI:
“I’m not afraid for them to carry out all the tests they want, I have always cooperated, did what they asked me, provided information, underwent controls; I’ve been through many after this situation. Today, I just had one more control at Disney.”
“I think if the UCI goes to the trouble of coming here to test me, I want them to also do it to resolve the problem for me. Speed up, investigate, and give me the green light to do what I love. I’m not hiding anything, I’m clean. I’m not afraid, I’m clean and have nothing to do with this.”
