Controversy in the WorldTour: Bora-Hansgrohe disputes Jumbo-Visma and denies the departure of Cian Uijtdebroeks

BORA-Hansgrohe contested the transfer of Cian Uijtdebroeks to Jumbo-Visma. The German WorldTeam denies the transfer and states that Uijtdebroeks “will continue with the team next season.”

On Saturday afternoon, Jumbo-Visma announced that Uijtdebroeks would compete for the Dutch team starting in 2024, despite still having a valid contract with BORA-Hansgrohe. The Belgian rider is said to have signed a contract with Jumbo-Visma until the end of 2027.

Cian Uijtdebroeks has already spoken as the new member of the Dutch team.

“I am very pleased to join Visma-Lease a Bike. They have proven to be a leading team in recent years. It is an honor to learn from guys like Jonas, Wout, and Sepp. I am looking forward to getting started,” said Uijtdebroeks via Jumbo-Visma’s social media.

BORA-Hansgrohe denies the transfer.

However, a few hours later, BORA-Hansgrohe issued a strong statement. “Cian is and will remain a member of BORA-Hansgrohe next season. He is contractually bound to us until December 31, 2024,” responded the team via CEO Ralph Denk.
