UAE Team Emirates Loses Top Sprinter to Israel – Premier Tech

Israel-Premier Tech has continued its efforts to bolster its roster for the upcoming 2024 season by acquiring German talents Pascal Ackermann and Michael Schwarzmann, formerly of UAE Team Emirates and Lotto Dstny, respectively.

“Our 2024 rider lineup is in great shape, and we are excited to welcome several young riders to the team. At the same time, we wanted to bring in an experienced winner to strengthen our sprint group, and we believe Pascal Ackermann will be a perfect fit,” said Israel-Premier Tech’s General Manager, Kjell Carlström, in a statement to the team’s official website.

“Pascal has 40 victories on his palmarès, an impressive achievement since turning professional seven years ago. He demonstrated, with his stage win in the Giro d’Italia this year, that he is one of the fastest sprinters in the peloton.”

“Every sprinter needs their trusted captain on the road, and by signing Michael Schwarzmann, we welcome an experienced lead rider who will play a significant role for Pascal and our other sprinters,” Carlström concluded.

“When I turned pro, Michael Schwarzmann was the guy who taught me how to be a professional cyclist and showed me how to conserve energy. Moreover, we are friends,” Ackermann commented. “When I decided to come to Israel-Premier Tech, I wanted to bring him along because I know he’s one of the most experienced guys in cycling. He knows exactly what needs to be done, how to pedal, when to push, and he can teach a lot to the young riders. He will be one of the most important guys for me next year,” Ackermann concluded.
