Astana renews contract of cyclist who competed in the Giro and Vuelta in 2023

Vadim Pronskiy will stay with Astana Qazaqstan Team in 2024. The 25-year-old Kazakh has extended his contract with the WorldTeam for one more year.

Pronskiy participated in the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta a España in 2023. However, his most notable performance came when he secured fifth place in the general classification of the Tour de Langkawi at the end of September.

Pronskiy won the 7th stage of the Tour de Langkawi.

“The first half of the season was very tough and exhausting,” Pronskiy says about the past season. “Due to illness, I lost entire days and weeks of preparation, so it was impossible to complete training blocks and be ready for races. But that happens: it doesn’t always go as planned.”

“I’m very happy to renew my contract with the team, to stay with Astana in 2024. I think this year can be much more successful. Everyone is determined to achieve good results, and I’m no exception.”

Alexandr Vinokourov is confident in Pronskiy’s development

Alexandr Vinokourov, CEO of Astana Qazaqstan Team, is confident that Pronskiy can resume his development in 2024. “Until this season, Vadim had a gradual and good growth in terms of results and experience. But this season he couldn’t train due to illness, which made it impossible to achieve significant results. (…) If the previous development continues, 2024 will certainly be a successful and breakthrough year for Vadim. He has everything it takes: youth, strength, motivation, and experience.”
