Niklas Eg, from Uno-X Pro Cycling Team, unfortunately had to end his professional cycling career at the age of 28 due to heart problems, as revealed by the Danish cyclist on Friday.
“About a month and a half ago, I realized that I could no longer continue in professional cycling. Unfortunately, it doesn’t make sense to continue competing,” said the former Trek-Segafredo cyclist, who participated in four Grand Tours during his career, in a conversation with the Danish newspaper Herning Folkeblade.
“I had hoped to keep pedaling for many more years, so this situation is extremely frustrating. Of course, you always hope for a clear explanation in these kinds of cases, but I haven’t been able to get one yet, so this uncertainty doesn’t make things more enjoyable. It has been a tough process,” he explains.
