The 27-year-old Danish rider, Jonas Gregaard, who competed in the last two seasons for the Norwegian Uno-X team, has signed a two-year contract with the Belgian ProTeam. Gregaard is the latest addition to Lotto Destiny for 2024.
“I’m a versatile rider with good climbing skills,” says Gregaard, who even wore the Mountains Classification jersey in the 2023 Paris-Nice, on the Lotto Destiny website. “If I had to compare myself to someone at Lotto Destiny, I’d say Andreas Kron or Maxim Van Gils, but both are a bit stronger than me (laughs).”
“I’m really looking forward to helping them in the mountain races. I also like to go on the attack and hope to occasionally aim for my own result in stage races.”
CEO of Lotto Dstny excited about the signing
Stéphane Heulot, CEO of Lotto Dstny, is excited about Gregaard’s arrival. “Jonas knows what it means to work for a leader and will help the team in mountain races, but he will also have a free role in certain races and will have opportunities in some stage races,” says the Frenchman.
“He has a lot of experience and is known in the peloton as a respected teammate. That’s why he fits perfectly in this team where the team comes first, not the individual,” concludes Gregaard’s new boss.
Team complete for 2024:
With Gregaard’s arrival, the Lotto Dstny team is complete for 2024. It was previously announced that Lionel Taminiaux, Jenno Berckmoes, and Henri Vandenabeele will also strengthen the team next year. Caleb Ewan (Jayco AlUla), Frederik Frison (Q36.5), Harry Sweeny (EF Education-EasyPost), and Michael Schwarzmann (Israel-Premier Tech) leave the team. The future of Rüdiger Selig is still uncertain.
