Caleb Ewan surprises by announcing his departure from Lotto Dstny and already being announced in a new team

Today it was announced that Caleb Ewan will leave the Lotto Dstny team after five seasons. The Australian sprinter has already found a new home for the next season, returning to his former team, the Jayco AlUla team, in 2024.

After some speculation, it is now official: Caleb Ewan will not be part of the Lotto Dstny team in 2024. Both parties agreed to terminate the current contract. However, the search for a new team was brief as the Jayco AlUla team has already confirmed Ewan’s signing. The 29-year-old Australian cyclist is returning to the team where he began his professional career.

The new team made a fun announcement on social media.

Ewan made his professional debut with what was then Orica GreenEDGE at the end of 2014 and spent four full seasons with that team. During that period, he won 29 races, including stages of the Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a EspaΓ±a, as well as seven stages of the Tour Down Under. At the end of 2018, he decided to move to the Lotto Soudal team. Now, Ewan is making the opposite move and will compete for Jayco AlUla in 2024.

Jayco AlUla General Manager Excited

And Brent Copeland, the general manager of Jayco AlUla, is thrilled about this. “Caleb needs no introduction. He has already achieved incredible results, and we know what to expect from him. He is one of the fastest sprinters in the world. It’s very special for an Australian of his caliber to return to our team. This gives us a great extra option for sprints.”

Ewan Reveals Maturation

“The fact that I’m returning to race for Jayco AlUla means a lot to me. I had a period of success there, and I also have fond memories of my early years with this team. It will be great to be part of the Australian culture again, with riders and staff who speak English. It’s very special for an Australian to compete for an Australian team.”

“Now I’m coming back as a more experienced rider. I’ve won big races in recent years, but I’ve also been able to develop as a rider and as a person. I’m looking forward to acting as a leader now, but also to help the young Australian riders on the team. I especially want to return to winning races in 2024,” Ewan concludes.
