Primoz Roglic reveals details about his move to Bora Hansgrohe

Primož Roglič commented on the move for the first time in a press release about his transfer to the German team BORA-hansgrohe. “The decisive factor was that the team is very motivated to work with me,” the Slovenian said. Roglič himself had submitted a transfer request to the team management, despite having an ongoing contract with Jumbo-Visma.

“I’m really looking forward to this step,” Roglič continues in his response, “although changing teams is something completely new for me. The good memories from when we met years ago made the conversations easier. But the decisive factor was that the team is very motivated to work with me. And we have the same ideas.”

Roglič also spoke with Ralph Denk, the CEO of the current BORA-Hansgrohe team, about a transfer eight years ago that ultimately did not happen. At that time, the Slovenian was not yet a professional cyclist and ended up choosing what was then LottoNL-Jumbo.

“As a cyclist and team manager, patience is required,” Denk briefly explains in the press release. “It’s not always the first attempt that leads to success. Eight years ago, Primož nearly joined us as a neo-professional. But now he joins us as a fully-fledged professional, with a long list of victories, something that few have achieved.”
