For the second consecutive year, Tadej Pogacar finished in 2nd place in the Giro dell’Emilia. Last year, he finished behind Enric Mas, and this year, his fellow Slovenian, Primoz Roglic, claimed victory.
“Mas is getting better every year. I’m a little closer to victory,” Pogacar said with a wry smile in his post-race interview with Cycling Pro Net. “It was a good day. We were very strong as a team. In the end, it was a fast race, but Primoz was very, very fast. But the legs are good for the next two races.”
“It was a wrong decision to go so early. I felt good, but that was my mistake of the day,” he admitted honestly. “But at least I managed to attack this year. In the previous two times, it was a DNF or I couldn’t follow. So overall, it was a good day.”
Next two races were victories for Pogacar in 2022
The two upcoming races mentioned, Tre Valli Varesine (Tuesday, October 3) and Il Lombardia (Saturday, October 7), hold good memories for Pogacar. Last year, he bounced back from the disappointment at Giro dell’Emilia to finish his season with two wins in the 2022 season.
