Iuri Leitão won the 2nd stage of the CRO Race in Croatia. The race started in Biograd na Moru and finished in Novalja, covering a total distance of 114.5km. The Portuguese rider, from Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, was the fastest in an intense sprint that started from a long distance. Elia Viviani, who remains the leader in the overall classification, and Alexander Kristoff had to settle for second and third places, respectively.
Four cyclists initiated the breakaway of the day, but the INEOS Grenadiers, working in support of the overall race leader and winner of the 1st stage, Elia Viviani, kept the time gap relatively tight.
With a little over 20 km to go, everyone came back together, and the focus shifted once again to preparing for a sprint finish. In the sprint, Iuri Leitão of Caja Rural-Seguros RGA powered ahead and secured the victory ahead of Elia Viviani (INEOS Grenadiers) and Alexander Kristoff (UNO-X Pro Cycling Team).
