Nairo Quintana and Primoz Roglic at Lidl-Trek, as reported by one of Colombia’s leading sports channels

There is a lot of anticipation in Colombia regarding Nairo Quintana’s future. After his stint with Arkéa-Samsic and a year of absence from major races following his positive test for tramadol in the 2022 Tour de France, there has been a wave of speculation about his next professional destination. Now, according to the Colombian channel Antena 2, one of the main possibilities for his future could be linked to that of Primoz Roglic.

In recent weeks, there has been increasing speculation about Nairo Quintana’s future, ranging from a possible return to Movistar Team to the option of joining Cofidis.

The two cyclists could potentially wear the same jersey in 2024.

However, a recent piece of news has sparked significant interest in the cycling community: a World Tour team is reportedly willing to assemble a highly competitive squad for the upcoming season with the aim of challenging cycling giants Jumbo-Visma and UAE Team Emirates in the major UCI calendar races.

€18 million Investment

The team in question that could become the new home for Nairo Quintana and intends to join forces with cyclists like Primoz Roglic is Lidl-Trek. The American team is reportedly willing to invest up to €18 million to strengthen their roster. The addition of an experienced and talented cyclist like Quintana would be, according to Antena 2, crucial to achieving the ambitious goal of competing at the highest level and contending for titles in the Grand Tours in 2024.
