The party was all set for Jumbo-Visma, and it indeed happened. What was unexpected, however, was a battle for the stage win and also for the green jersey.
A breakaway was established with 5 cyclists after an attack by Remco Evenepoel. The interest was clear, the stage win, and also the green jersey for the points classification. In the breakaway were Rui Costa, Remco Evenepoel, Kaden Groves, Filippo Ganna, and Nico Denz. The breakaway, with so many big names, managed to maintain a 15-second gap to the peloton consistently.

In the final meters, the peloton, after a lot of effort, caught up with the breakaway group. However, Remco Evenepoel attacked very early, allowing Kaden Groves (Alpecin Deceuninck) to take advantage of his slipstream and win the stage. Filippo Ganna (INEOS Grenadiers) finished in 2nd place, and Nico Denz (BORA Hansgrohe) secured the 3rd position, closing out the podium.
