EF Education Easypost doesn’t waste time and renews with the winner of the Tour de Flanders

EF Education-EasyPost announced via social media the extension of Alberto Bettiol’s contract. The 29-year-old Italian has raced practically his entire ten-year career in the WorldTour. The duration of the new contract was not disclosed.

Bettiol has accumulated an impressive resume over the years. He started his 2023 season with a win in the Tour Down Under prologue and wore the leader’s jersey in the race’s second stage. He claimed a stage win at the 2021 Giro d’Italia. His memorable victory in the 2019 Tour of Flanders was a significant milestone, but Bettiol says he still aims to achieve more with his teammates.

“For me, this team is very important,” says Bettiol. “My history as a professional cyclist is based on this team and the mentality of this team. I’ve grown with them. It’s like a second family to me when I go to races. They make me feel at home.”

“This team has helped me grow as a rider and also as a person. This aspect was important to me when I decided to renew with the team. It’s like I started a long journey and still don’t feel like I’ve reached the finish line. I still need to work, I still need to grow, and that’s why I stayed with the team.”

The team’s CEO, Jonathan Vaughters, acknowledges the vital role that Bettiol has played.

“Alberto was in his early twenties when he joined the team and became an invaluable rider and teammate,” says Vaughters.

“His victories were impressive, of course, but it’s the quick-thinking rider he has evolved into, the versatile rider who can support a teammate or go solo in a race – that’s what’s so exciting to see. He’s a cornerstone of this team.”
