Nathan Van Hooydonck was seriously injured in a car accident on Tuesday morning. The 27-year-old Jumbo-Visma cyclist was driving with his pregnant wife in the center of Kalmthout, Belgium. The athlete fell ill and collided with several cars at an intersection.
According to the Belgian news channel HLN, Van Hooydonck was resuscitated at the scene and taken to the hospital. The Jumbo-Visma cyclist is reportedly in serious condition. Van Hooydonck’s wife was taken to the hospital for a check-up. Another driver and a child passenger suffered minor injuries after coming into contact with Van Hooydonck’s car.
