Peter Sagan will compete in his last road race on Sunday, October 1st. The three-time world champion will be at the start of the Tour de Vendée in France in about three weeks. The Slovak will still be seen with his bike in 2024, but he will continue as an individual cyclist next year and focus on Mountain Bike.
The initial intention was for Sagan to combine Mountain Bike with some lower-level road races in the WorldTour with his current team, TotalEnergies, in 2024. However, Sagan, now 33 years old, continues on his own, supported by three sponsors: Sportful, 100%, and Specialized.
Sagan has been racing for the French team since 2022, after spending five seasons with BORA-hansgrohe. In his debut year with TotalEnergies, he won a stage at the Tour de Suisse and the Slovak national championship. However, Sagan has not secured any victories this season.
Impressive Palmares
Sagan’s list of victories is enviable: 121 to be precise. In addition to his three world titles, Sagan has also won, among other races, the Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix, Ghent-Wevelgem (3x), E3 Harelbeke, Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, GP de Québec (2x), and GP de Montreal. He has also had great success at the Tour de France, with twelve stage wins and a remarkable seven green jerseys.
