Wout van Aert’s season is not over yet. He has just won a stage of the Tour of Britain, will soon compete for the Gravel World Championship, and will also participate in the European Road Championship in Drenthe, Netherlands.
In an interview with the Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, Van Aert said that he will also participate in two Italian races. These are the Coppa Bernocchi on October 2nd and the Gran Piemonte on October 5th. “I want to end this bad season on a good note,” he said. “And I will certainly race again this winter, but not in October.”
Giro d’Italia or Vuelta a España in 2024?
“I’m really open to doing something different,” says Van Aert. “I would really like to race the Giro and the Vuelta.” Is he a bit tired of the Tour? “The special thing is gone. Some days this circus is more disappointing than others, but when I see how many reactions I get from people… you don’t have that in the Giro or the Vuelta, although I certainly don’t want to argue in favor of the Tour here,” Wout Van Aert concluded.
