Olav Kooij has won four times in a row at the Tour of Britain. In part, thanks to the work of his luxury domestique, Wout van Aert.
Kooij has already claimed eleven victories this season. In Britain, he is racing for the first time with Wout Van Aert as his domestique. The Belgian speaks highly of the Dutch rider. “He has the potential to become the best sprinter in the world. I think he’s already close to that. He certainly has speed, and as he’s young, I think he’ll naturally gain a bigger engine with age.”
“In fact, we are still building a connection together because we haven’t raced together much yet. We’ve done a few races together in Belgium, but it’s really nice to have success in Britain. Olav is doing really well, and it’s good for me to do something different and just race relaxed.”
Van Aert enjoys working with Kooij. “It’s been a special Tour of Britain with a series of flat stages, but I also think it could work well in a Grand Tour if Olav focused on the flat sprints,” Van Aert concluded.
