After the time trial of the 10th stage of the Vuelta a España, João Almeida didn’t hide his satisfaction. The Portuguese cyclist finished the stage in 4th place, just 50 seconds behind the winner Filippo Ganna.
With this result, João is now in 6th position, 2 minutes and 16 seconds behind the leader, Sepp Kuss (Jumbo Visma). Additionally, João Almeida is also ahead of Jonas Vingegaard, Enric Mas, and his teammate Juan Ayuso.
Right after the race, João Almeida posted on UAE Team Emirates’ official channels, sharing his impressions about the stage and issuing a warning about Wednesday’s stage.
“I was feeling good, managed to put in a good effort, so I’m happy, and I could stay with the other contenders for the general classification,” revealed the Portuguese cyclist from Caldas da Rainha.
To conclude, he made an observation about Wednesday’s stage, which will start in Lerma and finish, after 163.2 km, at the summit of La Laguna Negra, featuring a final 6.5 km climb at a 6.7% gradient.
“Tomorrow, we’ll face another tough day, not overly tough, but we need to be up there and vigilant. We’ll focus on the upcoming stages until stage 13, with the arrival at the summit of Tourmalet; it will be important to conserve energy until then.”
