Maxime Monfort will no longer serve as the sports director of Lotto Dstny next year. The former cyclist is moving to another team, Lotto Dstny announced in a press release. “I sincerely wish them a return to the WorldTour in 2026,” Monfort said.
Monfort started in 2020 as the sports director of Lotto Dstny after ending his professional cycling career with the Belgian team in 2019. “In recent weeks, I weighed the pros and cons and had extensive conversations with the people who have been important to me. In the end, I decided to make the move to a new team.”
Cherie Pridham is also leaving the team. She has been the first female sports director since 2022. “I have a very exciting new challenge waiting for me. The decision to leave was not easy, but I am very much looking forward to starting this new chapter in my professional life.”
Team Changes
Lotto Dstny has already arranged the replacements. Last week, it was announced that Tony Gallopin and Dirk Demol will become sports directors for the Belgian ProTeam next year. “We are well-prepared for what lies ahead, and we have full confidence in the strong core of team leaders in 2024,” said CEO Stéphane Heulot.
Monfort is already with a new team
Lidl-Trek has now announced that Monfort will be part of the team. “I am very happy to join the team because there are still many people I befriended ten years ago (Monfort has previously raced for the team).”
“Furthermore, an international team like Lidl-Trek always ensures a healthy and serene environment. A good working atmosphere is one of the keys to success for me,” Monfort concluded in his new team’s press release.
