The 8th stage of the Vuelta a España started in an amazing way. A breakaway with more than 4 minutes gap from the main peloton was formed with 30 cyclists. These riders were seeking the same success that Lenny Martinez had days ago, which earned him the red leader’s jersey.
As the stage progressed through the mountains, this group was reduced in size until it was completely caught with 5 kilometers to go.
Therefore, a small group of 8 cyclists set off to compete for the stage victory. Primoz Roglic (Jumbo Visma) made the final push and won the stage!! Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quickstep) came in 2nd place, and Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates) rounded out the podium in 3rd place.
With the result, Sepp Kuss (Jumbo Visma) takes over the red leader’s jersey, as Lenny Martinez (Groupama FDJ) couldn’t keep up with the group of leaders on the last ascent, finishing 1 minute and 10 seconds behind the winner, Primoz Roglic.
