Wout Van Aert attends a Belgian Football Championship game

Wout van Aert excels in cycling, but the Belgian also showcases his skills in football. The Jumbo-Visma athlete kicked off the competitive match between Antwerp and OH Leuven on Saturday night at the Bosuil Stadium.

Van Aert is a shareholder of the team’s sponsor

Van Aert is a minority shareholder of Heylen Vastgoed, a sponsor of Royal Antwerp FC. “Am I a supporter of Antwerp? A little bit,” the cyclist told the Belgian broadcaster Sporza. “Of course, we are involved as sponsors. And I have a super nice sweater here with my name on it.”

The 29-year-old cyclist spoke after a “unique experience.” “It’s the first time I can kick off. My knowledge of football is limited. If you start asking me difficult questions, I’ll freak out. I really enjoy feeling the atmosphere.”
