A big setback for Sjoerd Bax, at the end of the road season. The Dutch rider from UAE Team Emirates suffered a fracture of the femoral neck (upper part of the thigh) during the crash at the Il Lombardia.
The biggest victim of the accident, which also involved Belgian champion Remco Evenepoel in the early stages of Il Lombardia, was Sjoerd Bax. The Dutchman from the United Arab Emirates had to abandon the race just over 200 kilometers from the finish.
The Dutch rider sat for a long time and appeared to be in pain, and now his team has announced on social media that he suffered a fracture of the femoral neck. The 27-year-old cyclist will require surgery soon.
