On the last Saturday, October 14th, in the city of Pipriac, near Rennes, the 14th International Champions of Yesterday Criterium took place, organized by the Pipriac cycling association in honor of past champions.
The highlight of the event was the inauguration of “Rue Raymond POULIDOR.” Many cycling legends were brought together to celebrate this occasion, including Bernard HINAULT, Joop ZOETMELK, Cyrille GUIMARD, Angel ARROYO, and other notable figures.
Pipriac now has a street named after Raymond Poulidor, who passed away in 2019, becoming the fifth legendary cyclist to receive this honor from the city, following in the footsteps of Louison Bobet, Bernard Hinault, Cyrille Guimard, and Laurent Fignon.
Champions still in top form
After a warm-up, each accompanied by a young rider from the Pipriac and Redon clubs, under the guidance of professional cyclist Laurent PICHON (Arkéa-Samsic), the champions set off for 40 laps on a 1.3 km circuit, showing that cycling remains a part of their daily lives.
