In recent days, Maciej Bodnar revealed his decision to retire from professional cycling, and his loyal teammate throughout the years, Peter Sagan, expressed a sincere tribute to this remarkable journey.
“Cycling is a peculiar sport. We race in teams, but only one of us wins and stands on the podium. However, behind every winner, there’s a cast of cyclists whose tireless effort and absolute dedication make it possible,” Sagan begins his message.
“Maciej Bodnar, one of the greatest silent heroes in the peloton, has announced his decision to hang up his cycling shoes,” Sagan adds.
“It is with a mix of emotions that I read the news because ‘Bodi,’ as we call him, was not just another teammate who made immense efforts for his leader,” continues the Slovakian. “We shared unforgettable moments of triumph and joy, but also faced the struggles and challenges of this beautiful sport, but above all, Bodi has been, is, and will always be a true good friend.”
“Bodi, as you embark on the next chapter of your journey, may the roads ahead be smooth, and may you never face headwinds,” concludes Sagan. “Goodbye and thank you for the incredible journey, my dear friend.”
Maciej Bodnar expresses gratitude for sincere words
“You are a great champion, a great friend, but I didn’t know you had so much talent for writing,” replied Bodnar. “Thanks for the beautiful words, 14 years, only we know how it was, and it was amazing.”
