Visma-Lease a Bike has used its own nutrition app over the years, but is now taking it to a new level. The Dutch team is introducing a premium version of the FoodCoach app, developed by The Athlete, especially aimed at amateur cyclists and runners.
New version of the application
The initial version of the nutrition app was launched in 2018, by the Jumbo retail chain, which was the team’s main sponsor at the time. In addition to a version for the common consumer, a special edition was created specifically for the cyclists of the Jumbo-Visma team.
In the summer of 2022, Jumbo reached an agreement with the team to transfer the platform, making the app fully owned by the now Visma-Lease a Bike. The team has big ambitions for the nutrition app, being the first professional sports team to launch a premium version aimed at amateur athletes.
Food Coach Premium
According to the team, the FoodCoach Premium app “uses advanced technology and provides real-time adjustments for each eating plan.”
“These adjustments are based on data from platforms such as Strava, Garmin or JOIN, among others. This gives amateur athletes access to tools that were previously exclusive to professionals.”
Subscribers will have contact with the team’s nutritional strategies
Visma-Lease a Bike seeks to further connect with its fans through the FoodCoach Premium app, while also seeking to generate additional revenue. Through the app, the team shares its nutrition expertise with a global audience, enabling amateur cyclists and runners to utilize the same advanced nutritional strategies as professional athletes.
