Jonas Vingegaard rents a house in Switzerland: “it helps that we don’t have to travel as much.”

Before, mentioning Jonas Vingegaard would imply mentioning Glyngøre, his hometown in Denmark. However, this association is no longer as direct. The Danish cyclist and his family have now decided to establish an additional base in the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland, Ticino.

Earlier this year, Vingegaard and his family expressed the intention to seek a more permanent residence abroad, facilitating frequent travels and strengthening family bonds.

Although the experience of living in Switzerland is recent for the Vingegaard family, it is already positively contributing to the family’s quality of life.

  • I definitely think it helps that we haven’t traveled as much as in the past. In the past, we always traveled to all sorts of different places, and now we’ve stopped doing that, and it helps.
  • We’ve settled down, and that makes our entry easier, says the Danish cyclist, who, along with his family, also has a base in France.

Ticino is surrounded by a chain of mountains.

Mads Pedersen has also moved to Switzerland. Vingegaard explains that the change doesn’t alter the long altitude training camps that occur throughout the year. But mainly outside the season, it can make a difference for him and his family.

Mads Pedersen has also moved to Switzerland, where, in addition to favorable tax conditions, there are also good training opportunities.

However, Vingegaard hasn’t had time to train with his fellow countryman yet, he says.
