Pavel Sivakov clinched victory at the Giro della Toscana with an unrelenting attack against Richard Carapaz just before the one-kilometer mark. Tadej Pogacar, in his return to competition, secured fourth place in the race.
The riders from EF Education-EasyPost and INEOS Grenadiers showed exceptional performance, standing out as the strongest contenders in the competition. They engaged in an exhilarating battle for victory. Sivakov, aware that Carapaz had an advantage in a final sprint, launched his attack just over a kilometer from the finish line, taking advantage of a slight incline.
Carapaz, momentarily caught off guard, lost crucial meters that led him to concede the lead to his rival. Meanwhile, Pogacar couldn’t keep up with the surprising attack from the two strongest riders of the day, finishing in fourth place, with his teammate Felix Grosschartner completing the podium.
