Flèche Wallonne, now without Tadej Pogacar, will have major changes in 2024, four ascents to the iconic Muur de Huy, check out the teams present

The Flèche Wallonne, which in this edition will not have the presence of Tadej Pogacar, as announced by the Slovenian, will cross the Wall of Huy four times for the first time in its history. The organization announced this during the presentation of the test. The final was significantly redesigned, with, in addition to an extra climb of the Muur van Huy, also the disappearance of the Côte de Cherave from the final part of the race.

Tough climbs at the end of the race

Due to the exclusion of the Côte de Cherave, it was decided to add an extra local lap. Thus, after 199 km the finish will be at the top of the fourth climb of the Wall of Huy.

Last year, the men’s Flèche Wallonne final consisted of three local laps on three ascents: the Côte d’Ereffe (2.1km at 5%), Côte de Cherave (1.3km at 8.1%) and the Muur de Huy (1.3 km at 9.6%). After more than 100 kilometers, cyclists entered this circuit. This will happen in 2024, after the start in Charleroi, after a 90-kilometer race.

However, the Côte de Cherave will be excluded in 2024, thus only the Côte d’Ereffe and the Muur de Huy (between 800 and 200 meters from the finish the percentages rarely fall below 15%).

Teams present in 2024

The organization distributed seven Wild Cards for the 2024 edition, which will complete the list of teams that already has the 18 World Tour teams. Lotto Dstny, Israel-Premier Tech and Uno-X Mobility automatically received an invite based on their performance in 2023. The other four invites went to Bingoal WB, Euskaltel-Euskadi, Q36.5 and TotalEnergies.
