Andrea Bagioli secured the victory in Gran Piemonte on Thursday, October 5th. When asked if his win was a surprise, he replied, “It doesn’t surprise me since I’ve been in good form in recent races.” The Soudal Quick-Step cyclist made these comments during a quick interview after the race.
“Today, we aimed for the victory,” Bagioli continued. “It was a very fast start, with ninety flat kilometers from the beginning. It was challenging to control the breakaway. We had Dries (Devenyns) with us. On the final climb, Catta (Mattia Cattaneo) did a great job. On the last small climb, we went ahead and then continued at full speed. The peloton wasn’t too far behind yet. But it turned into a race among us, and I won.”
“It’s really nice,” said Bagioli, who will compete for Lidl-Trek from 2024 onward, about his victory. “Next year, I’ll leave the team where I spent my first four years as a professional. I’m very happy to be able to say goodbye with this victory,” Bagioli concluded.
