The participation of Belgian Wout Van Aert in the Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior, considered the Spanish Strade Bianche, due to the various gravel sections that are part of the challenging route, ended in the first meters of the difficult section.
Van Aert suffered a flat tire which effectively left him out of the final race. Now, the cyclist shared the cause of the problem on Instagram: a huge screw ended all of the Belgian’s ambitions.
This misfortune resulted in Van Aert having to accelerate to make up for lost time following the incident on the first of four gravel road sections. His teammate Per Strand Hagenes promptly provided him with a new tire, but a chance to compete for the final classification was already out of reach for the Belgian cyclist.
