Cyclist Mathieu van der Poel won, for the sixth time in his career, the World Cyclocross Championship, an event in which the Dutchman had an enthusiastic crowd.
Mathieu van der Poel spat at fans at Huslt
The behavior of spectators during cycling competitions is regularly on the agenda, and sometimes these fans even behave inappropriately, as occurred at the Hulst race when Belgian fans threw beer and urine at Van der Poel, and got payback with the World Champion responding with a spit.
Unusual request from fans
During the cycling world championship in Tabor, some fans decided to mobilize in a good-natured way. They prepared especially for Mathieu van der Poel the poster as revealed in X’s profile, “Cycling out of Context” which read “Mathieu, spit on me”. Evidently this is a reference to the incident that occurred in Hulst.
