In the world of cycling, preparing for major competitions is never a simple task. Geraint Thomas, leader of the INEOS Grenadiers and winner of the 2018 Tour de France, is preparing for a great challenge in 2024: the double dispute in the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France.
The Welsh cyclist recently announced via Instagram update that preparation for this challenge is in full swing. Thomas posted images of himself atop Mount Teide in Spain.
“It took 13 years to reach the top”
“It only took 13 years to reach the top of Teide,” Thomas captioned his official Instagram post, sharing photos of himself atop the mountain.
“Disappointed that there was no lava at the top, even though it’s over 3,700 meters.” In a video also posted, the cyclist states: “The highest I have ever been in my 37 years of life. Who brought the champagne? I forgot the Welsh flag to plant on the rock.”
