Three cyclists who competed as juniors in the last season are about to make their debut in a WorldTeam in 2024, following in the footsteps of Remco Evenepoel, who made a similar transition in 2019. Markel Beloki, Andrew August, and Theodor Storm, all 18 years old, are ready to face the biggest challenges of their careers.

Only 11 cyclists have moved directly from the Under-19 category to the men’s WorldTour peloton. Remco Evenepoel was the first in 2019 when he signed with Deceuninck-Quick-Step. Later, others followed, including Carlos Rodriguez (2020, INEOS Grenadiers), Quinn Simmons (2020, Trek-Segafredo), Cian Uijtdebroeks (2022, BORA-hansgrohe), and Joshua Tarling (2023, INEOS Grenadiers).

Three new names will be added in the 2024 season. The Basque talent Markel Beloki, son of Joseba Beloki, will join EF Education-EasyPost.
INEOS Grenadiers previously signed juniors Carlos Rodriguez, Joshua Tarling, and Michael Leonard and has now brought in two more talents. American Andrew ‘AJ’ August is making an immediate move from the Sub-19 category, along with Danish rider Theodor Storm, who, among other achievements, won the EPZ Omloop van Borsele and finished third in the junior Paris-Roubaix.
Another prodigy will have to wait until 2025.
Another cyclist will be added to this list in 2025. He will be the 12th on the list to jump categories. The young Danish rider Albert Withen Philipsen will make his WorldTour debut next year with Lidl-Trek. The 17-year-old, who became the junior world road champion and European junior time trial champion last year, was sought after by several teams and ultimately chose Lidl-Trek.
