Tadej Pogacar afirmou neste sábado à Agência France Press (AFP), que sua rivalidade no Tour de France com Jonas Vingegaard, pode se tornar algo para “os livros de história”, com a dupla compartilhando os últimos quatro títulos entre eles.
“Nossa rivalidade é baseada apenas no Tour de France, mas acho que no futuro nos encontraremos nas outras corridas também e teremos uma rivalidade que ficará nos livros de história”, disse Pogacar no Japão, onde se prepara para corrida no Criterium Saitama deste domingo.
“Estou muito feliz por ter um rival tão grande contra mim, temos muito respeito um pelo outro”.
“We are ready for a show in the coming years,” he added. The 25-year-old stated that he had “one of the most amazing seasons” but aims to recapture the Tour de France title next year.
“I am quite confident every year, but there are so many things that can go wrong or right,” he said.
“You just have to keep the faith and never give up because we all work very hard.
“We all know we can win, and we just need to fight, fight, play the games and try to win.”
Criterium Saitama
Pogacar will be the star attraction at the Saitama Criterium, which also includes former Tour de France winners Chris Froome and Egan Bernal, and Vuelta a España champion Sepp Kuss.
Slovakian Peter Sagan, who is retiring from road racing to return to Mountain Biking next year, will also compete.
