Manuele Boaro announces retirement and is already presented as the sports director of a Japanese team

Manuele Boaro ended his professional cycling career at the Veneto Classic on October 15th. He began his career in 2011 with Saxo Bank-Sungarde, where he spent six seasons. From the start of his career, the talented 36-year-old Italian stood out for his skills, becoming the Italian Time Trial runner-up in his first year as a professional. Hailing from Bassano del Grappa in Veneto, he joined the Astana team in 2019 after two years competing for Bahrain-Merida.

Manuele Boaro ended his professional cycling career at the Veneto Classic, which took place on October 15. He began his career in 2011 with Saxo Bank-Sungarde, where he stayed for six seasons.

From the start of his career, the talented 36-year-old Italian stood out for his skills, achieving the title of Italian Time Trial runner-up in his first year as a professional. Hailing from Bassano del Grappa, Veneto, he joined the Astana team in 2019 after two years competing for Bahrain-Merida.

In the Kazakh team, Manuele Boaro won a stage in the Vuelta a España in 2019 and also a bronze medal in the European Mixed Team Time Trial Championship in the same year. Throughout his career, he participated in 12 Grand Tours, including 8 editions of the Giro.

In 2024, he decided to use all his experience and become a sports director for a Japanese Continental team in the 3rd division, JCL Team Ukyo.

JCL Team Ukyo is the top Japanese team, ranked 41st in the UCI rankings, or the 3rd best Asian team outside the WorldTour. Boaro will be able to share some of his experience and knowledge in professional cycling.

“I am happy to announce the beginning of my new adventure with JCL TEAM UKYO as Sports Director. I will try my best and bring my experience to the team. I can’t wait to get started,” Boaro said on his social media.
