Israel Premier Tech ready for the Giro dell’Emilia with the return of an Italian climber after a serious injury

Domenico Pozzovivo has fully recovered from a broken rib and lung collapse he suffered in the Vuelta a Castilla y León at the end of July. This has allowed the now 40-year-old Italian to return to the Giro dell’Emilia this coming Saturday.

Pozzovivo had a crash on July 26 in the opening stage of the Vuelta a Castilla y León. Hospital examinations revealed that the climber had broken a rib and experienced a minor lung collapse. Recovery from these injuries took more than two months.

On Saturday, Pozzovivo will return to racing with Israel-Premier Tech in the Giro dell’Emilia alongside fellow climbers Dylan Teuns, Michael Woods, Jakob Fuglsang, and Stephen Williams. Pozzovivo is also on the provisional start list for Tre Valli Varesine on October 3.

After Pozzovivo’s contract with Intermarché-Circus-Wanty was not extended at the end of last year, it took until March of this year for him to sign with Israel-Premier Tech. Since then, he finished sixth in the Coppi e Bartali Cycling Week, seventh in the Mont Ventoux Challenge, and fifth in La Route d’Occitanie.
