Innovative Campagnolo Power Meter appears at the Cyclocross World Championship

At the recent Cyclocross World Championship, the website Bikerumor caught something that caught the attention of cycling experts: a Campagnolo power meter that had not yet been released on the market.

The power meter was on Ryan Kamp’s Colnago G3-X and was part of the Italian brand’s Super Record Wireless group, launched last year.

Will Campagnolo enter the power meter market?

Internal power meters have been a big miss in Campagnolo’s catalog, especially considering most of its competitors already offer the feature.

Currently, Campagnolo is the only one of the three major parts kit brands, along with Shimano and SRAM, that does not offer an in-house power meter option, having to be paired with third-party options.

Many were surprised when the Super Record Wireless group, launching in 2023, didn’t include a built-in power meter to match other brands’ offerings.

On the other hand, Campagnolo has taken another important step: the Super Record Wireless has become the brand’s first completely wireless group. And now, it appears that Campagnolo is planning to launch its own power meter, although few details are known about the new device.

The Campagnolo Power Meter

Campagnolo’s new power meter, spotted on Ryan Kamp’s bike, appears to be constructed from aluminum rather than carbon. The athlete switched to Campagnolo parts sets in early January after leaving the Pauwels Sauzen–Bingoal team, and his original equipment lacked the power meter, so it appears to be a recent addition.
